“There’s Hidden Sweetness In The Stomach’s Emptiness…”
A Soul-Letter from The One Mind Sanctum
Dearly Beloved,
welcome to our periodical drop of wisdom Soul-Letter Publications, as Oana and I have returned from our 3-week Water/Dry Fasting Journey.
In sharing our insights and experiences with you, I invite you to explore your own individual connection to your body, the water you’re made of and at the same time, which dimensions and worlds are opening up for you, once you’ve set foot on your own individual path of water fasting.
"Fasting is one of the great ways of approaching The Great Spirit: it releases the life force from enslavement to food, showing you that it is The Great Spirit who really sustains the life in your body."
Fasting, at its essence, is not about the absence of food, but the presence of clarity. It is a conscious surrender — a sacred pause — where one loosens the grip of material attachments to receive nourishment from a more subtle realm. We fast not to deny the body, but to realign with the soul.
Many say we eat our emotions.
In fasting, we observed this firsthand. Hunger reveals itself not just as a physical sensation, but often as emotional residue — unresolved longings, old patterns, subtle addictions. Yet, beyond the cravings, something extraordinary unfolds: spaciousness. Awareness. Grace.
The Journey of Fasting:
Preparation, Experience & Re-Integration
The Preparation
Before stepping into the sacred space of fasting, we spent over a week gently preparing—reducing our intake to light, nourishing fruits and small portions. This gradual easing allowed their bodies to attune, creating a soft landing into the fast.
The Experience
What followed was a dance between intensity and grace. Physical sensations rose and fell, emotional waves came and went. Some days were challenging, others surprisingly effortless. Cravings faded. In their place: deep silence, long walks in nature, and an unexpected inner strength. Have you ever stretched beyond your limits and uncovered hidden parts of yourself? We’d love to hear your reflections in the comments.
And here is what revealed itself to us through the inner alchemy of this fast:
Recognition of Dependence
Seeing where I reach for food to mask discomfort or restlessness.
Empowered Self-Control
Not repression, but liberation: Awareness over impulse.
Strengthening of Discipline
A quiet inner steadiness that permeates all areas of life.
Opening to Forgiveness, Compassion & Love
As judgment dissolves, unity arises naturally.
Release of Excessive Needs
A natural aversion to overconsumption of all kinds (food, media, ...)
Deepened Spiritual Practice
Meditation becomes effortless, luminous. Inner Reflection became vivid.
Karmic Unfolding
Synchronicities increased, old emotions surfaced and cleared.
"Being" over "Doing"
Activity no longer arises from compulsion, but from presence.
Surrender & Flow
Life moved through me instead of me forcing life.
Authenticity
Less pretending, more truth.
Heightened Sensitivity
Frequencies, energy, and subtle realms became tangible.
Expanded Connection
With nature, people, the cosmos — all felt deeply intimate.
Rebirth
Not metaphorical, but experiential. A reset of the soul.
The Re-Integration of food
Emerging from the fast, we reintroduced food slowly and mindfully—avoiding heaviness, sweetness, salt. Every bite became sacred. Our senses sharpened, our connection to the subtle realms became radiant. This experience redefined our relationship with nourishment.
Have you ever had a moment that shifted your perspective on something essential? Share your story—we’re listening.
This path is not without challenges — physical discomfort, emotional purging, mental resistance — yet each serves as a potential doorway, and especially powerful when adding several days of complete dry fasting, as Bear did.
Fasting asks not just for abstinence, but awareness. It’s a ritual of purification across all dimensions: body, mind, heart, spirit.
Fasting is not starvation. It is sanctification.
It is not about suffering. It is about surrender.
It is not about discipline alone. It is about devotion.
Fasting might not be for everyone. Each body is different. Each soul has its rhythm. Reflect deeply before stepping onto this path. Ask yourself not how to fast, but why? Listen to your body, honour your condition, and prepare your space — within and without.
Or to close this sharing in Rumi’s Words:
"There’s hidden sweetness in the stomach’s emptiness.
We are lutes, no more, no less.
If the soundbox is stuffed full of anything, no music.
If the brain and belly are burning clean with fasting,
every moment a new song comes out of the fire.”
Thank you for joining us on this journey. Stay curious, stay inspired, and remember, we're all in this together. 🙏🏼
